Henry Cavill told how the massacre in Blaviken from the series The Witcher was shot

Netflix published a new video on the series The Witcher, in which actor Henry Cavill, who played the main role in the show, told and showed how the scene of the Blaviken massacre was shot.

Caution spoilers!

Recall that in this scene, Geralt brutally kills Renfrey’s gang members and herself to save civilians in the city. After that, the witcher received the nickname “The Butcher of Blaviken.”

Cavill notes that in this scene the swords were only half true. The other half was drawn using computer graphics. The difficulty was that the actor and stuntmen had to play as if the swords were whole.

In addition, the actor and stuntmen had to coordinate their movements not only among themselves, but also take into account the operator, so as not to hurt him with anything. This was especially important in moments taken with one take.

According to Cavill, with the help of battles it was planned not only to show the skill of owning a sword of the characters, but also to tell a story. For example, Renfrey initially attacks, and Geralt, in turn, defends himself until he decides to disarm the enemy in just a few movements. At this moment, the witcher retreats and gives Renfrey one last chance, which she did not take.

In another video, actress Anya Chalotra shot a scene in which her character, Jennifer from Wengerberg, escorted Queen Calis back to Lyria when a wizard suddenly attacked them.
