“He was the best of the best”: Legendary Tetris player Jonas Neubauer passes away

The famous American classic player passed away at the age of 39 Tetris Jonas Neubauer… On the death of a 7-time world champion became known on his official Twitter page. Jonas reportedly passed away on 4 January while receiving emergency medical attention.

During his esports career, Jonas won seven of the first eight Classic Tetris World Championships (CTWC) between 2010 and 2017, finishing second in 2014 and 2018. He was also a popular streamer on the Twitch platform, where he was followed by 25,000 subscribers who witnessed him accidentally breaking the world record, earning 300,000 points in 1 minute and 57 seconds.

“I am deeply saddened by this huge loss. He was by far the greatest classic Tetris player,” pro Japanese player Tomohiro “Green Tea” Tatejima tweeted.

“We could not have imagined a better champion, idol and friend. Jonas, we will miss you, we love you and thank you for inspiring us to always be the best. Rest in peace,” the official account of the championship says world by Tetris.

“This is a huge loss in many ways. Jonas Neubauer was one of the greatest classic Tetris players of all time for skill, spirit and kindness. My sincere condolences to his family and friends and the entire classic Tetris community,” wrote the Tetris brand.

“Rest in peace, Jonas,” wrote CTWC 2018 winner Joseph Saley.
