The original Six Days in Fallujah was an Iraqi war game set during the second Battle of Fallujah in 2004, but soon after the announcement, the media generated an uproar around the shooter, eventually leading to the publisher’s departure and subsequent game closure.

A press release on the occasion of the announcement emphasizes that the authors are working on the revived Six Days in Fallujah in collaboration with more than a hundred front-line marines and soldiers who participated in the Battle of Fallujah, as well as Iraqi civilians who were there. Direct witnesses of those events shared with the developers their stories, photos and recordings that will be included in the game.
