Guy Ritchie’s Covid Taste: Review of Human Wrath with Jason State

Have Guy Ritchie has his own handwriting, which can usually be traced regardless of whether he is filming an adventure “Sherlock Holmes“,”Aladdin” or “Gentlemen”. Therefore, it is quite surprising, instead of the long-awaited gift from the English master, to receive this time a covid tastelessness. A dish that has no odor or unusual taste.

Anger Human“Based on the French film”Collector”(Le convoyeur), it feels and looks like a completely traditional action movie that absolutely any director could shoot. There is no intricate intrigue, twisted presentation or bright images. Even Jason Statham plays his usual role of a tough guy-terminator, slowly turning into a dark analogue Liam Neesonwho rescues innocent hostages from film to film.

Keeping the plot of the French original, Guy Ritchie elevates State’s hero to an unapproachable ideal, which even the local special services are afraid of. “Let the artist create,” one of the special agents casually throws to the indignant policeman. And the “artist” creates his art, torturing and finishing off numerous criminals in search of the killer of his loved one. Trying to bring the two storylines together, Richie loses the overall pace of the story, keeping the general story of a tough guy who gets a job with a cash collection company to find a mole and get revenge. State, as Irishman Patrick Hill, nicknamed H, is most of the time dealing with criminals in a laconic manner, earning the authority and recognition of Fortico Security’s management.

The gunfights and action scenes look good, but they lack fiction and are not well done. The secondary characters are not worked out in the best way, unlike the French original, and the life of the employees of the collection company is shown, although interesting, in places roughly, but not so dark as in the original. As a result, “Human Wrath” turns into a kind of too serious and traditional action movie from the 90s with an invincible hero and flat villains. This is probably not bad, and it will go for an evening with schnapps and pizza, but not quite what you expect from the work of a master of the level of Guy Ritchie.
