George Martin on HBO’s Game of Thrones: “The series has gone the other way”

George Martin on HBO's Game of Thrones:

Author “The game of thrones” George Martin said that the creators of the series took the plot in a “slightly different direction.”
According to Martin, he did not assume that the HBO writers David Benioff and Dan Weiss will be able to overtake the already published novels of the series, but they managed to do it. When the series started in 2011, there were already four novels on the shelves, and soon a fifth appeared.
According to Martin’s plans, there were still two books ahead, plus he had a head start compared to the showrunners of the project. But they still bypassed him, however, they did it, having received numerous criticism – an assessment of the final of the series on iMDb still remains the lowest in comparison with all other episodes.
Finally, Martin added that in future books, readers will see his version of the end of the story – apparently, the criticism of the scriptwriters of the series also did not pass by the writer. However, when they do come out “Winds of Winter”Martin did not elaborate again.
But it is known that the first spin-off of the main series about the Targaryen past will be released on HBO in 2023.
