On the 46th year of life, one of the founders of the studio died Gearbox software Landon Montgomery. About the tragic event was announced on the official Gearbox Twitter page. The cause of death of the developer was not disclosed.
“We are heartbroken over the news of the death of one of our cofounders, Landon Montgomery. In our early years, Landon played a big role in the development of the company, helping to pave our way,” the Gearbox report said. “We will always be grateful and will remember him for being part of our lives. In this difficult time, we share our thoughts, support and condolences with his loved ones.”
Words of condolences also expressed Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford.
“Landon will live in our memory as the developer of our early games, from Half-Life and Halo to our first original Brothers in Arms title. Goodbye Landon.” Wrote Gearbox Software president.
During his work in the company, the developer as a producer and manager managed to work on a number of significant projects, such as Half-Life: Opposing Force by order Valve, James Bond 007: Nightfire, series Brothers in arms and Borderlands. His team also worked on the PC version. Halo: Combat Evolved.
Before the opening of the Gearbox in 1999, Montgomery worked as an artist and level designer in Bethesda softworkswhere he worked on The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire. After leaving Gearbox in 2010, Montgomery worked for some time as a manager in the studio. Daybreak gamesknown for creating H1z1.
Later, the developer moved to the company Nvidiawhere he worked to date.
