A few days ago, WHO declared the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. And although some time will pass before the vaccine appears, now gamers can help in the fight against the disease. They are invited to participate in the distributed computing project Folding @ Home.
As part of it, several biochemical processes are simulated, during which the virus enters the cells of the human body. This will allow, as expected, to understand the nature of the virus and to quickly develop a cure for it.
At the moment, the coronavirus is not selected in a separate project, it is located in the “Any” tab, therefore, data from all studies in this category will be sent immediately to the user’s computer. However, it is possible that in the future the priority of these studies will increase. Download the application here.
Recall that earlier researchers suspended a similar SETI @ Home project to search for signs of the existence of aliens. But the principle of distributed computing can be used for a number of other tasks.
