Four class action lawsuits over problematic Cyberpunk 2077 release merged

Lawsuits have been filed one by one since the end of December last year. The company’s shareholders also filed lawsuits against CD Projekt, who claim that CD Projekt misled them about the quality of Cyberpunk 2077, as a result of which they suffered damage.
The developers were aware of the deplorable state of Cyberpunk 2077 on the previous generation consoles, but CD Projekt promised Sony and Microsoft fix the game for release. The studio did not want to show the game on PS4 and Xbox One, hoping to fix it in time for release.
On release, it turned out that the game is practically unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One. As a result, players could request a refund directly from CD Projekt, as well as in PS Store and Microsoft Store… Sony even removed the game from its store (and still hasn’t returned it).
According to the forecasts of CD Projekt itself, for digital and retail returns in 2023, as well as returns and lost sales, projected in 2023, the company will lose only $ 51.2 million. This is only 9% of CD Projekt’s total revenue last year.
Despite the scandalous release, sales of Cyberpunk 2077 reached 13.7 million copies in just three weeks. For financial success, CD Projekt management will receive $ 28 million, and 865 employees – $ 29.8 million.
