Company Epic Games spoke in detail about the benefits of the nextgen version of the popular battle royale Fortniteto be available for download on next generation consoles Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X / S on the day of their release.
The main technical features of the nextgen version of Fortnite:
- 4K / 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X.1080p / 60 FPS on Xbox Series S;
- 60 FPS in split screen mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X;
- Improved effects of smoke, liquids, clouds and storm;
- Grass and tree foliage will react to explosions;
- All next generation consoles will have faster downloads;
- PS5 announced support for DualSense gamepad capabilities.
Epic Games clarified that the Xbox Series S version will receive “most of the visual enhancements” available on the Xbox Series X.
Crossplay will continue to be available on all platforms, and game progress and cosmetics will carry over to the nextgen versions.
World launch Xbox Series X / S expected on November 10. Playstation 5 will hit the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12, while the rest of the world will have to wait until November 19.
Fortnite currently works on the Unreal Engine 4, but the game will be transferred to UE5 in mid-2021.
