The current trend for folding smartphones and tablets is clearly divided into two areas. The first is dominated by flexible-screen solutions (Samsung, Motorola and Huawei) In the second – two-screen solutions (Microsoft, Lenovo and Dell) Now, it seems, connected to the case and Apple.
According to a new patent application, Cupertino considers the idea of a two-screen iPad and iPhone. The document demonstrates a device concept that is similar to Surface neo and Surface duo. The Apple version also supports the expansion of the image on two screens, the possible use of one of them as a keyboard, and so on.
The application itself was filed back in 2017, but only recently published. It is unclear at what stage development is currently, however, given that Microsoft is preparing its solutions, Apple will probably not pull. In this case, patenting the idea was simply too late.
On the other hand, that Microsoft and Apple file thousands of applications every year, and such patents do not guarantee that such a product will ever be released.
