Final Fantasy XIV PS5 owners will be able to choose 1080p, 1440p or 4K

Square enix shared technical details Final fantasy xiv for the PlayStation 5, which will begin open testing tomorrow.

As noted by the developers, MMORPG players on PS4 will have access to their content on PS5, while beginners can only start their journey – they will be given free content from the trial version of the project, which includes part A realm reborn and expansion Heavensward

But there are interesting details with the picture quality: on the PS5 it will be possible to choose 1080p, 1440p and 4K as the native resolution. In the case of the first two, they promise a stable 60 FPS in “normal game mode”, while in 4K – only about 40 frames per second.

Square Enix also managed to implement the features of DualSense: they extensively used feedback and in some points even added support for adaptive triggers for first-person episodes.

The FF XIV team also said that they worked on improving the quality of the interface – it was originally created for 720p, but on PS5 it works in a much higher resolution. For this, the developers, among other things, used neural networks, and some of the elements were improved manually.

In addition to the quality of the images in the interface, the developers note improved fonts for 4K

Other improvements for the PS5 include faster downloads and the use of 3D sound.

Final Fantasy XIV open testing will last for several months – most likely, it will end with the release of the story expansion Endwalker… It will be released this fall on PS5, PS4 and PC.
