FAS has softened the requirements for pre-installation of domestic applications – review

Edition “Kommersant”Reports that the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has reduced the requirements for preinstalling domestic software on smartphones and computers.

Firstly, now the software does not need to be installed on tablets and smart devices. The list includes PCs, laptops, a smartphone and Smart TV. Secondly, now you can restrict yourself to an icon for downloading the application when you turn on the device. The user will decide on the installation.

Finally, thirdly, applications must be popular. We are talking about a minimum of 100 thousand downloads or 100 thousand unique users per day. Programs should also distribute “socially significant information and spiritual and moral values”, And the development was carried out by a Russian company.

They plan to adopt the resolution before July 1, and the law will enter into force on January 1, 2023.
At the same time, according to the Association of Sellers and Manufacturers of Household Appliances and Computers (RATEK), this will increase the price of smartphones by at least 500 rubles. And the costs of manufacturers will grow by a million dollars.
