FAS fined Apple 907 million rubles for violation of the antimonopoly law

Federal Antimonopoly Service announced a fine Apple in the amount of 907 million rubles for violation of the antimonopoly law. This was done following the consideration of the application “Kaspersky Lab“.

The case was opened in 2019 after the complaint of “Kaspersky” against Apple due to “unjustified rejection” of the latest version of the application Kaspersky Safe Kids… In August 2023, the FAS concluded that Apple personally restricts competition on iOS devices and abuses its position.

Also, the executive authorities are unhappy that, according to the documents, Apple may refuse to release applications on its site, even if they meet all the voiced requirements – this may lead to restriction of competition in adjacent markets.

Apple itself does not agree with the FAS decision and is working with Kaspersky Lab to bring the application to the App Store quality standards.
