This week the company EA issued a report to investors in which the financial director of the company Blake Jorgensen toldthat some games of the current generation can be updated for free to the next.
Then Jorgensen did not specify what kind of projects they would be and how they would be updated. Users are interested, because Sony has not yet presented an analogue to the program Smart deliverypromised Microsoft on the Xbox Series X.
Today, after the announcement of Madden 21 EA shed some light on this issue. It turns out that there was no question of any Smart Delivery. Instead, the company takes a different approach.
To upgrade from the Xbox One version to the Xbox Series X version for free, users must purchase Madden NFL 21 on the Xbox One strictly until December 31, 2023, and switch to the next generation console by March 31, 2023. Outside this time period, the free upgrade program will not be relevant.
Smart Delivery, in turn, works on a different principle: when you buy one version of the game, the user automatically gets access to the versions for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X and can “upgrade” at any time. This model has already been supported by a number of major publishers.
The list of currently confirmed projects with the Smart Delivery function:
- The Ascent (Curve Digital);
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft);
- Call of the Sea (Raw Fury);
- Chorus (Deep Silver);
- Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekt Red);
- DiRT 5 (Codemasters);
- Scarlet Nexus (Bandai Namco);
- Second Extinction (Systemic Reaction);
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (Paradox Interactive);
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Sega).
