E3 2019 star Ikumi Nakamura reveals why she decided to leave Resident Evil’s father’s Tango Gameworks studio

Ikumi Nakamura, who became famous at E3 2019 after the presentation of mystical action GhostWire: Tokyo, for the development of which she was responsible in the studio Tango Gameworks, became the heroine of the latest video on the YouTube channel Cutscenes.

In the video, Nakamura shared a number of interesting facts about herself and her career. In particular, she told about the reasons for leaving Tango Gameworksleft behind Ghostwire and what she plans to do in the future.

As it turned out, the key factor in the separation of Nakamura and the team Tango Gameworks became the artist’s problems with her own health. For a long time, Nakamura felt not in the best way and understood that in such a state she simply could not continue to work.

She also remembered her days in Capcomwhere some developers literally slept in their workplaces. Expressing respect for her former colleagues, Ikumi Nakamura noted that she would not like to follow their example anymore.

“You can’t create games when your health fails. I started to think about whether it is possible to work in the industry without sacrificing your own body. So I decided to quit before it was too late.”

The developer recently opened her own game studio. In the future, she plans to create her own original game. Now Nakamura is looking for talented like-minded people. The heroine of the news wants to see people with different cultural backgrounds in her team, but at the same time strives to observe gender equality.
