Dread Nautical Review | Gamemag

Idea to combine worlds Howard Lovecraft with tactical RPG and elements rogueThe genre sounds interesting. IN Dread nautical the player begins his story on a cruise ship with the iconic name “Hope” somewhere in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, when sleeping at the depths of the creature take control of passengers and crew, freezing the ship in a temporary bubble, constantly repeating one day cycle.

You are among the few survivors to get out of the infinite “Groundhog Day”, Visiting 20 decks of the liner and saving the remnants of passengers who have remained sanity.

As a start, you are offered the choice of a private detective who is well versed in firearms, a dancer, a geek, and an adoring cold weapon of the harsh representative of the yakuza.

Starting your journey for one of the heroes, you must inspect all the rooms on a randomly created deck, destroy enemies and collect useful supplies. The day ends with the ringing of a ship’s siren.

New weapons will come in handy in further battles with opponents, and food products can hold out for another day. In exchange for the assembled parts, you can upgrade your shelter by upgrading your workbenches, bed and medical station.

A high-level workbench will allow you to strengthen and repair weapons with minimal problems. The fact is that during patching damage to a katana or pistol, you can spoil the weapon itself – it will be destroyed.

However, at each level of the liner there are enough enemies and secret places where you can find new weapons and resources.

The upgrade system itself has special restrictions so that you do not feel too strong, keeping your heroes slightly lower or noticeably weaker than opponents.
Exploration of the deck takes place in real time until you meet the enemy.

Then the game switches to turn-based mode, where each action requires points. Different weapons use different numbers of points, so you should carefully plan your attack based on the state of the inventory, which at the beginning consists of only four slots.
