Working on an updated version Doom 64, employees Nightdive studios again resorted to the capabilities of its engine Kex engine, which allowed to increase the resolution and frame rate, while maintaining a unique visual style.
At the same time, the studio was marked by a funny achievement. The fact is that the console version of the game Xbox one s (An improved version of the base system that supports HDR and can display 4K images) does not produce standard 1080p, but all 1440p.
The developers note that ordinary Xbox one can also work in this mode, but due to differences in hardware, unpleasant artifacts occur when displaying fonts. Given this, standard Xbox One and Ps4 work in 1080p resolution.
On the Xbox one x and PS4 Pro Doom 64 shooter gives honest 4K. Concerning Nintendo switch, then in stationary mode, players can count on 1080p, and in portable mode – at 720p.
All versions of Doom 64 for modern systems can rely on smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second.
