Disney closes the animation section Blue sky studioresponsible for the franchise “Ice Age” and other projects.
The studio belonged to 20th Century Foxwhich Disney previously bought. In total, the authors of “Lednikovoe” brought in about $ 5.6 billion.
The reason for the closure was the economic problems of Disney in connection with the coronavirus pandemic – in these conditions, it is not profitable for the company to have a third animation division. The last working day of Blue Sky Studio will be in April. The decision is expected to affect 450 employees.
One of the future projects called “Nimona” will not be released, and the latest release of the studio was a cartoon “Camouflage and espionage.”
At the same time, Blue Sky projects will remain in the ownership of Disney, and an animated series based on “Ice Age”.
