In an interview with the publication New york times former vice president and presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke rudely about modern tech companies and video games in particular. Biden managed to form his opinion about these things while working in the White House, where he somehow had to meet with representatives of the gaming industry and various specialists from Silicon Valley. Both those and other politicians called “disgusting”, “self-confident” and “arrogant” people.
“You may remember the criticism that I received after meeting with serious leaders from Silicon Valley, with whom we discussed various ways of protecting intellectual property in the USA. And at some point, one of these disgusting people, a multimillionaire, almost the billionaire with whom we were sitting at the same table claims to be some kind of artist. The artist he has become by creating games that teach how to kill other people, “explains Joe Biden.
Biden had previously criticized video games. In 2013, at that time, the still acting vice president offered to tax “cruel” games with a separate tax, saying that he did not see any legal obstacles to this.. Later, he also stated that despite the lack of direct evidence of a correlation between various acts of violence in the United States and violent games, films or books, the general public should be prepared in advance for the possibility that in the future there may be studies that will put an unambiguous point on this issue.
Later in an interview, Joe Biden was outraged by the fact that one of his interlocutors, who owns a large company, dared to say that he and his colleagues are the “Economic Engine of America”.
“These people are very arrogant, overly arrogant, they are convinced that everything revolves around them. That they can do whatever they please. I do not agree with this,” Biden emphasized.
Apparently, Joe Biden’s prejudices against modern tech industries go far beyond ordinary hostility.
“In the case of every technical revolution in our history, it took from six years to a whole generation before the state apparatus could begin to control the changes taking place. Remember the Luddites who sabotaged various machine industries. So they reacted to a changing cultural background. From the radio it was like that The same thing happens with television. Now the same thing is happening, but on an absolutely unbelievable scale. Keeping order is the responsibility of the state. It is this that should be addressed.
