Owners of Xbox consoles will not have such problems – all progress of the Xbox One version will be carried over to Series X / S.
Currently on Xbox, all progress can be carried over between generations. On PlayStation, your Playgrounds creations can be carried over, but other game progress (Career, currency, saved liveries) cannot. If that changes, we’ll let you know!

Dirt 5 has added to the list of games that will prevent you from transferring progress between PS4 and PS5 with a free upgrade. Dirt 5 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon support Microsoft’s Smart Delivery technology, which allows players to purchase a copy of the game once on any Xbox platform to gain access to all Xbox versions and guaranteed overall progress.
Sony, apparently, does not have such a single free program for upgrading games for the PlayStation 5. Instead, the Japanese platform holder left the decision to choose upgrade schemes to third-party publishers.
Release DIRT 5 will take place on November 6th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, November 10th on Xbox Series S / X and later on PlayStation 5. A version for the Google Stadia cloud platform is expected in early 2023.
