Many assumed that it was a remake, but the director explained that he was considering the project as a sequel. Wingard and his creative partner are responsible for the script. Simon Barrettwith which they worked on “Guest” and other projects.
Original tape by John Woo 1997 with John Travolta and Nicholas Cage talked about the confrontation between an FBI agent and a dangerous criminal. In order to reveal the location of the bomb hidden by the villain, the agent makes himself a face transplant.
But he does not know that the bandit himself learned about this plan and, in turn, changed his face, taking it from the enemy.
In the fresh version of the main characters, apparently, other actors will play.
