A significant part of the characters should represent religious diversity, a significant part of the characters should be of low socio-economic status.
- Part of the storyline should be devoted to events taking place in the life of minorities. To clearly correspond to the recommended indicators, the sections on representativeness should not be limited to just a small set of scenes.
- Game events should occur within a location or setting that is rarely involved in fiction. If the universe of the game is a fantasy world, it is necessary to draw parallels with real-life events, regions and the people who inhabit them.
- Among the actors who voice the characters, there should be representatives of minority groups who speak out in real life against stereotypes and stagnant beliefs. If there are many NPCs in the game, they should be diverse, including minorities.
If developers follow at least three recommendations, their game will comply with the BAFTA standards of representativeness and will get a chance to be nominated. At the same time, potential nominees for the award also have to pass “tests” on other points.
In the case of issues of inclusion in the studios that create the games themselves, BAFTA There is a separate list of rules. It clarifies similar points, only extending not to artistic images, but not to real employees. The team must adhere to a gender balance, have LGBTK + representatives, physically disabled people within their walls and follow the general correct working atmosphere.
