Studio HappyGiant, which includes people who took part in the development of the original Sam & Max: Hit the Road a 1992 sample from LucasArts and a series of games from Telltale, published a four-minute video Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual! – an upcoming game about two unusual freelance police officers for virtual reality devices.
The new project will be the first original game in the series in more than a decade, and the first appearance of the famous pair of detectives in virtual reality.
For the first time in the history of the franchise, players will not be allowed to control Sam and Max – they will have to be next to them. In order to become recruits, gamers will have to complete a series of fun tasks.
HappyGiant has gathered a stellar team of Sam & Max veterans under its wing. For example, the author of the franchise acted as a consultant on design, art and plot. Steve Purcell… Other team members include a renowned concept artist Peter Chan, screenwriter and designer Mike Stemmle and the Bay Area Sound label. Sam and Max voices will perform again David Knowin and Dave Boat…
Release Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual! expected in the first half of 2023. The list of supported VR headsets has not yet been provided.
