Detailed Harlem, enhanced stealth, cat costume and more – many new details about Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The ResetEra forum posted a large summary of fresh details about superhero action Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales from the new issue of the journal GameInformerAll key information is collected below, but be aware that some of the details contain spoilers for the original game

History:

  • Events take place one year after the completion of the first Spider-Man – Miles is 17 years old. The game is positioned as a real sequel, which, in all likelihood, will set the stage for what will happen next – this is not a side story. At the same time, in terms of duration, the new part is slightly shorter than the original, but this does not include the side quests. Both new and familiar characters will appear.
  • The opening scene is packed with action. It involves a Rhino escaped from a container being transported, his henchmen, and both Spider-Men. The fight with Reno passes through several buildings and is accompanied by impressive destruction. Further, the battle continues in the park with a large Christmas tree and goes to the mall, where Jay Jonah Jameson appears as the shopping Santa.
  • The entire sequence and individual moments look more ambitious and insane than in the first game. Experience with the first “Spider-Man” allowed Insomniac Games to add more crazy action and climax scenes to the sequel.

Costumes:

  • Beginner Suit – Miles’s homemade suit, similar to the one in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse;
  • Gift Suit – the suit was presented to Miles, it is not technological and looks baggy;
  • Iconic Suit – standard suit shown on all promotional materials;
  • T.R.A.C.K. Suit – one of the DLC suits, white with a red spider;
  • Cat Suit – a suit in which a cat will sit and finish off opponents together with Miles;
  • 2020 Suit – suit from the cover of the 13th issue of the comic Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2018).

Combat system:

  • Pressing L1 accumulates a charged venom strike that stuns enemies and makes them more vulnerable in this state, while holding L1 gives special moves on attack buttons. At the same time, the vein is not unlimited and works in the same way as Peter’s focusing scale;
  • Venom strike charging is felt through the DualSense tactile recoil flowing from the left side of the controller to the right, vibrating during the attack.
  • Miles has his own gadgets and they are used just like in the first game. In addition, you can now perform stealth kills from ceilings and walls;
  • If Miles reveals himself, he can activate stealth disguise, which will scare opponents. Then they will start shooting chaotically into the air and try to shoot him down with grenades. At the same time, some enemies are able to spot Miles even when he is invisible.

Rocking on the web:

  • Basically the same as in the first game, but Miles has more different skydiving-inspired tricks at his disposal, which he can perform while swinging on the spider web to earn experience.
  • When fired with cobwebs, a slight vibration is felt, and the triggers begin to increase tension as they reach the end of the swing.

Open world:

  • New York is divided into districts, as in the first game, in each of which you can perform activities and stop offenses. The crimes will be new, but a couple will return from the first game, with the developers completely abandoning the puzzle labs.

Soundtrack:

  • One of Miles’s hobbies is mixing, and one of the collectibles in the game is related to music and possibly sampling.
  • The game will feature original as well as licensed tracks by Kid Cudi, Jaden Smith and other artists;

Other details:

  • Harlem has become so sophisticated, literally forcing you to stop and just look around to immerse yourself in this whole atmosphere. Despite the fact that the area remained the same size, the developers significantly increased its detail and made it more alive.
  • Miles’s spider webs are not as confident as Peter’s. His body kind of twitches and he has less control over his arms and legs. The movements are somewhat reminiscent of “helicopter” ones.
  • Other villains will appear in the game, besides the aforementioned Rhino, for example, Tinkerer, but there will be fewer of them than in the first game.
  • The Police Scanner from the original game has been replaced with the Friendly Neighbor Spider app created by Ganke Lee, which connects all areas of the city and informs Miles about the activities and crimes that are currently taking place. The program is launched by swiping to the left on the touchpad, showing all active activities and crimes from Miles’s phone, without going into the menu.
  • Miles is the only playable character;
  • The original Spider-Man received three story chapters after release in The City That Never Sleeps, but Insomniac Games has yet to say if Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have DLC.

The project will be released on November 12th for PlayStation 4 and November 19th for PlayStation 5.
