Deathloop authors shared new details of the PvP-mode – Igromania

Within the framework of the exhibition QuakeCon 2023 developers from the studio Arkane Lyon shared new details of the PvP mode Deathloop

Recall that the game takes place on the Black Reef Island. The time loop makes its inhabitants live the same day over and over again. The main character of the game, Colt Van, is the only one who tries to break the loop, so all the inhabitants of the island hunt him.

For everything to fall into place, players need to kill 8 ideologues who are monitoring the preservation of the time loop. To accomplish his plans, Colt’s arsenal will have various weapons and supernatural abilities, but only one day. Otherwise, everything will start over.

Julianne Black, whose only task is to find and kill Colt, will also interfere with breaking the loop. This character can be controlled by both artificial intelligence and any other player. However, the authors have repeatedly noted that intrusions can be turned off. This will not affect progress in any way.

By choosing Julianna at the beginning of the game, players will be able to customize the appearance, abilities and equipment of the character in order to then invade the world of a random player or friend.

Colt and Julianne have access to the same set of weapons and abilities, however Colt has one distinctive ability – Reprise, which allows him to return to life twice after death. Because of this, players who choose Julianne will have to be more careful, and knowledge of the map is even more encouraged.

Colt players can avoid Julianne, but the reward for killing her, according to the authors, is worth it. It can drop loot in the form of weapons, abilities or enhancements for abilities, as well as a currency called Residuum, which can be spent to save weapons and abilities between loops.

The developers note that there will be no leaderboards or a competitive aspect in PvP mode. Its main task is to be a generator of interesting and unexpected stories and moments.

Deathloop will be released on September 14th on PS5 and PC.
