“Death Note” and “Tokyo Ghoul” outlawed: Hearings are held in St. Petersburg to ban anime in Russia

In case of “Death note“the experts noted that the name of this anime is capable of”generate interest in death“and the protagonist Yagami Light – not a strict and confident guideline for young people, but a criminal, which, according to the court, is unacceptable. During the proceedings, the news of January 12 about the suicide of a St. Petersburg schoolboy was also mentioned. Discontent of the court and experts regarding “Tokyo ghoul“went through a similar prism. Experts watched individual scenes of the show, establishing in them the presence of violent episodes that can lead to violence, as well as characters in whose gender the audience may not immediately understand.

It is important to note that the court session is not over yet – the authorities are analyzing the content of the anime “Elven song“.
