DayZ and ARMA developers disown partnership with Tencent Chinese

Appeared earlier this week information that the Chinese gaming giant Tencent acquired 70 to 80% stake in Czech video game developer Bohemia interactive (ARMA, DayZ) for 260 million US dollars, having actually absorbed it, has nothing to do with reality.

Many publications immediately believed in the reliability of hearing, largely due to the fact that Tencent for many years, acquires shares of Western development studios, among which are Riot, Funcom, Supercell, Epic games, Frontier developers, Activision Blizzard, Paradox Interactive, Ubisoft and Yager. But explanations from the Czech company did not have to wait long and after a short amount of time at official forums with a refutation made a CEO of Bohemia Interactive Marek Spanel.

“Dear friends, I would like you to know that the information about the purchase of Bohemia Interactive by the Chinese holding Tencent, distributed through the various media networks, is untrue. In the past, we negotiated a possible strategic cooperation with a large number of potential partners, but on at the moment, we remain an independent studio, “Spanel wrote.

“I want to thank our incredible fan community for their support over the years. Without you, Arma, DayZ, and Bohemia Interactive would not have achieved such great success in the gaming industry.”

At this stage, Bohemia will remain an independent studio.. Last year was quite successful for the company. Czech developers managed to sell 4.5 million copies of games and DLC around the world, which brought them an income of $ 68 million.
