Computer version Cyberpunk 2077 uses DirectX 12 as the only API, and therefore it can only be run on Windows 7 and Windows 10. This was said by the leading graphic programmer RPG Marcin Gollent.
Developers are actively testing the game on Windows 7 in an attempt to get rid of any critical bugs, since DirectX 12 support on the system appeared only last year.
The Cyberpunk team decided to use DX12 for two reasons: firstly, it is a standard API for Xbox consoles, and secondly, it supports its own ray tracing, which the Polish studio relies on.
Cyberpunk 2077 is released November 19 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be released in 2023, but already on the release they will support versions for the current generation of consoles due to backward compatibility.
