Complete chaos: Sale of a new batch of PlayStation 5 consoles in Japan turned into a storm of the store and a call to the police

One of the largest electronics stores in the Japanese capital Yodobashi Camera received today from Sony Interactive Entertainment new batch Playstation 5… From the very morning, a huge queue of people wishing to purchase a hard-to-find console lined up at the outlet, but a scuffle broke out in the premises, which led to a disruption in sales after a police call. The situation in Japan is very unusual.

As a rule, scarce goods are distributed in this country on a lottery basis – this is when the store conducts a drawing of the right to purchase between users. However, in this case, Yodobashi Camera decided to implement a new batch of PlayStation 5 according to the scheme “who came first, that console will get it.” In addition, in this store, the measures introduced by many retail outlets against resellers, which consisted of selling goods only to holders of bonus cards, did not work.

At the same time, visitors had to get a purchase number from the employee and get into a separate organized queue. However, the situation quickly got out of control and people in a crowd “piled on” the employee’s side, moving the cashier counter. The managers immediately called the police and announced that no one would receive the PlayStation 5.

It is not an easy task to get the PlayStation 5 right now, especially in Japan, which receives consoles in small quantities.
