Chinese conglomerate Tencent made another investment deal designed to strengthen the company’s position in the West. This time, large infusions were made into a Swedish studio 10 Chambers Collective, which is known for developing a cooperative horror shooter GTFO…
Previously Tencent founded her own team in California and invested money for a german studio Yager – creators of the third-person shooter Spec Ops: The Line.
The 10 Chambers Collective was founded in 2015 by a group of former Starbreeze developers and other industry veterans. To achieve its long-term goals, the studio required “more muscle”that Tencent managed to get hold of.
“Just before we approached six years of GTFO development, we realized that more muscle would be needed to achieve our long-term ambitious goals,” said 10 Chambers Creative Director Ulf Andersson.
The amount involved in the deal was not disclosed, but a press release revealed that Tencent now owns a “large stake” in the gaming company.
Currently, 10 Chambers is developing a “major update” for GTFO, since the studio plans to replace existing content in the game on a regular basis – maps, enemies, skirmishes (skirmishes) and so on.
