Development S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is powered by Unreal Engine 4 using photogrammetry and ray tracing effects, while the original trilogy, including Clear Sky, was built on GSC Game World’s proprietary X-Ray Engine. Initially, GSC considered making a sequel on X-Ray, but the original engine turned out to be too outdated.

Release S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will take place 28th April 2023 both Xbox Series X / S and PC on Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft. On release day, the game will immediately appear on Xbox Game Pass.
