Studio Mojang announced that the next major update for the popular sandbox Minecraft entitled Caves & cliffs (“Caves and Rocks”) will be released in two parts. The premiere of the first half should take place before the end of summer, when, as a second portion of fresh content, will be added to the game only in winter.
As stated in the official statement Mojang, the reason for this decision was a number of factors. The overall scale of Caves & Cliffs played a key role here – the update introduces significant changes to fundamental aspects of Minecraft, such as algorithms for generating worlds, maximum block heights and depths, and much more. It took the developers additional time to make sure all of this worked as expected. Otherwise, they would have to work with large overtime, which could negatively affect the mood of the team.
As part of the Caves & Cliffs summer release, Minecraft will bring many new blocks, items, and creatures. In turn, in the winter, Mojang plans to delight fans with the most key features of the update – new caves, mountains and all related functions and features.
