Blade and Soul
The first promo video of the game Blade and Soul appeared in 2008, and already then the gaming community paid attention to the quality of the picture. Today, anyone who wishes can be convinced on their own experience that NCSoft approached the creation of the game with all seriousness. True, for this you have to break through the stock of hieroglyphs and pokhamanit with proxy servers, because Blade and Soul has so far only been launched in Korea, but our fans never stopped such difficulties.
In general, the game was really amazingly beautiful. It is made on Unreal Engine 3, the engine is not new, but for MMO it is quite adequate. Design Blade and Soul is similar to Asian comics in the style of anime: female characters are clearly tempting, at every opportunity shake busts and for whatever reason (and even without reason) sparkle panties, and men are mostly either effeminate, or are pieces of meat, similar On the rocky cliffs. In this game there are both relatively realistic heroes, and all known big-eyed.
So far, the game has four races and five classes. All races are humanoids: kun – fragile girls, gong – muscular blocks, ling – dwarfs with tails and big ears, gins – most similar to normal people. Classes are represented by swordsman, fistfighter, magician, ninja and destroyer (lover of huge axes). Classes differ not only in mechanics, but also in the interface (some save units of morale, others use manna). But with the group roles this time the Koreans somehow did not work out. Each character in Blade and Soul is himself and a damager, a tank, and a healer.
But all classes have their own, unique style of combat. Ninjas prefer to act secretly and experience unhealthy attraction to other people’s backs, swordsmen parry attacks well and rely on sudden and often deadly attacks, destroyers inflict crushing but slow attacks, masters of kung fu prefer to beat quickly and also quickly evade, and sorcerers love to control their enemies And hit the squares.
The fights themselves are a mixture of fighting game with a target system, which independently directs your righteous anger to the enemy. Available skills can be combined into a chain of combos, and although the dynamics of combat here are noticeably inferior to classic fighting games, compared to the usual MMORPG battles here otherwise than as hurricane can not be called.
The development of the hero fits into the usual framework for the genre. As we gain experience, we progress in levels and climb up the tree of skills. Each character has seven basic skills and a bunch of secondary ones, which, in one way or another, modify the basic ones. At the same time, you can experiment with the “build” of your hero completely safely – in Blade and Soul at any time you can redistribute skill points for a modest fee.
Another way to determine the steepness is, of course, equipment. Here, only the equipment here has nothing to do with the clothes of the character. All that you put on your hero, serves only to decorate him. The real things that really affect the performance are weapons, jewelry and “treasures.” The central place here is occupied by an amulet – it can insert eight precious fragments, and each of them affects one specific characteristic. A collection of similar fragments is supposed to be a bonus – an analog of the “sets” in other games. Plus, the fragments can be improved (or broken) with reagents.
The quest component in Blade and Soul allows you to perform tasks, not really delving into their essence. You just run around the markers, which indicate where to go, whom to beat, with whom to talk. The authors promise that they will soon introduce into the game various subject lines, from which not only the character himself, but also the world around him will change. To hope for something comparable to Mass Effect, of course, it is not necessary, and indeed, who are interested in these quests, when there is so much action around?
Blade and Soul did not bring any significant innovations to the genre. NCSoft just created another solid, complex and extremely beautiful MMORPG, which is only slightly inferior to TERA Online in terms of image quality. The only pity is that so far Blade and Soul is only available in Korea – for a more comfortable game will have to wait for the European release.
