Company Rockstar games announced a decision to temporarily disable servers Red dead online and Grand theft auto online in memory of the African American George Floydwho died while being detained by white police in the city of Minneapolis on May 25. This event led to mass protests in the United States. The #BlackLivesMatter movement was launched, with members opposing police brutality and racism.
Large gaming companies supported peaceful protesters and announced financial assistance to the black community, while Rockstar Games decided to go even further and temporarily disable servers in their super-hit games.
“Black lives are important,” the company said.
Red Dead Redemption Online and Grand Theft Auto Online will not work today from 21:00 to 23:00 Moscow time.
