This week at Disney + the release of the third episode of the series “Loki“(Loki), in which the protagonist was introduced as the first bisexual superhero / antihero in cinematic universe… In this regard, the director Kate Herron made an official statement on social networks.
According to Herron, making Tom Hiddleston’s bisexual character part of the Marvel canon became her main goal immediately after joining the project.
“It’s part of who he is and who I am,” the director wrote on Twitter ..
The first hints of the character’s sexual orientation appeared in promotional materials, where Loki’s profile was shown, in which he was listed as “gender fluid”. And for the “coming out” scene in the third episode, a special gamut was selected, repeating the colors of the so-called “bisexual flag” (red, purple and blue).
From the moment I joined @LokiOfficial it was very important to me, and my goal, to acknowledge Loki was bisexual. It is a part of who he is and who I am too. I know this is a small step but I’m happy, and heart is so full, to say that this is now Canon in #mcu #Loki ??? pic.twitter.com/lz3KJbewx8

In many ancient legends, the gods gave birth to children in a rather atypical way. The Scandinavian god of deception Loki was no exception. Once he turned into a mare and gave birth to a horse Svadilfari eight stallion Sleipnir, which was then taken by the supreme god One…
In Marvel comics, Loki has long been a pansexual and gender fluid. But within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the emphasis was not made on the sexual orientation of the character.
It’s no secret that Disney “sends signals” rather carefully so that the company’s projects are not banned in other countries (for example, in Russia and China). In hindsight, it was done in Loki, but the scene was filmed in such a way that it can be easily edited if necessary (the Disney + platform has not yet been launched in Russia).
However, flirting with the LGBTQIA + community and strange script decisions do not help Marvel expand its audience. According to the service SambaTV, in the USA, the premiere episode of “Loki” set a record, overtaking the first episode in views “Falcon and the Winter Soldier“(890 thousand households against 759 thousand), but then there was an impressive collapse.
As a result, on the third episode, “Loki” managed to lose almost 20% of the audience (163 thousand households). Data Google Trends also say that interest in the project is rapidly declining.
