Last night Sony revealed the final design Playstation 5. The console got a futuristic appearance and contrasted strongly with the Xbox Series X tower form factor, but the company did not say anything about the size of the console, which made it difficult to draw conclusions about the dimensions of the device at the time of the announcement.
Unofficial measurements on the basis of PS5 images that appeared on the network showed that the device seems to be significantly larger than the Xbox Series X, PS4 Pro, and even the original PS3. When calculating the scale, users relied on the sizes of drives and USB ports, which are more or less the same for all devices.
For comparison, the confirmed dimensions of the Xbox Series X are 30.1 centimeters in height and 15.1 centimeters in width and depth. The height of the PlayStation 5 in this case should be approximately 35.5 centimeters.
At the same time, the PlayStation 5 will also have a diskless version. Due to the lack of a Blu-ray drive, the second system turned out to be slightly thinner, but the case height is the same in both cases.
The release of the PS5 is expected in late 2023. Cost and exact launch dates are still not called.
