Publisher Electronic Arts and studio DICE shared the first details about the shooter gameplay Battlefield 2042. A full presentation of the game is scheduled for June 13th.
In particular, the publisher clarified the release date. Battlefield 2042 launches on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4 and PS5 on October 22, 2023.
The name of the game refers to Battlefield 2142, in which the war began against the backdrop of a new Ice Age. The events of the new game also unfold in the future, but not so distant.
Due to the reduction of reserves of energy resources, food and clean water, Russia and the United States are unleashing a global conflict, and many other states have simply collapsed, unable to cope with the crisis. The “restless” refugees will have to choose one of two sides.
Earlier, EA confirmed information that there will be no story campaign in BF 2042. Instead, chunks of information will be fed in multiplayer and across environments.
Replace the usual for the last parts Battlefield Specialists with unique talents and specializations came to four classes of soldiers. Players will be able to customize their equipment, as well as choose the most suitable style of play.
On PC and next-generation consoles, up to 128 people will be able to face off in massive combat on the battlefield. The highlight will be the improved destructibility system and the mechanics of unique events on the map (like tornadoes, sandstorms, and so on).
Players will be offered three new game modes:
- “Total military conflict” – is a hybrid of “Capture” and “Breakout”… Battles will unfold on huge maps with a dynamic weather system,
- “Dangerous area” – the developers have not yet shared the details. Judging by the comments, the focus will be on squad fights.
- Secret mode – DICE will share details on July 22 at EA Play Live… However, they call this mode a “love letter” to fans of the series.
