Back to the future: SNES old lady was trained in ray tracing

One of the trends in the gaming industry in recent years is the introduction of ray tracing technology. However the developer and engineer Bur Carter brought the situation to the point of absurdity.

The fact is that he made an old woman work with rays Super Nintendo Entertanment System (SNES). Of course, the console itself cannot handle such an advanced technology, so we are talking about a graphics chip that resembles the legendary SuperFX… The iron used is modern, but the developer deliberately decided to limit himself by refusing to use the ARM core.

So called chip SuperRT Carter allows you to render rays in real time, accurately rendering shadows and reflections. To demonstrate the possibilities of his development, the engineer published a recording with a demo, which works at a resolution of 200 by 160 pixels and produces up to 30 frames per second.

Ben Carter added that, once refined, the SuperRT chip can be trained to work with Nintendo 64… In the comments, fans urge the developer to use the technology to demonstrate Super mario 64 or StarFox 64 (Carter is the main programmer in charge of remastering the second game for Nintendo 3DS).
