The dark suffocation of the night is broken by the rising of the sun, which illuminates the bed of the River Nile, the roofs of the houses, and the shining pyramids. Origins plays a lot on the glittering beauty of the landscape, also thanks to a resolution that on Xbox One X drives the title to technically unpublished levels for the saga.
The strength of the brand linked to the Assassin’s epic has always been directly proportional to the historical context in which it is set: it was years that the user demanded a chapter set in the desert dunes, and here it is. On the one hand, the development team will feel somewhat serene by having to deal with such a required enemy; on the other hand the tension was certainly palpable, because the environmental reconstruction could not be “just” beautiful, we had to go further.
Moving the first steps by imitating Bayek will be immediately enjoyable: looking around, turning the gaming camera, will give us truly unforgettable views of the landscape. Moreover, the Egyptian gold era has only lived in history books, and seeing this fantastic, vibrant and animated historical period is a blow to the heart.

We have seen three main places where the story will be set, although surprises will certainly be missing. We start from the urban landscape: admirable because it conveys the willpower of a people capable of building with the means it had available, mainly boulders of all kinds. The result is very horizontal and slightly vertical urban agglomerations, except for the noble part of the city where there are imposing structures to see and really passionate to climb.
It then moves on the bed of the Nile, land of crocodiles and submerged treasures. Wading through the water while admiring the sun’s reflection and then indulging in some underwater exploration is one of those activities that we can not wait to be able to live; perfectly integrated with gameplay but capable of breaking down the incessant rhythms of the quest.
What remains in our hands will be the diamond’s point of production: desert exploration and enigmatic pyramids. In a nutshell: it’s spectacular. Riding between the dunes losing in this yellow sandy expanse will allow us to truly live the Egyptian atmospheres but also – we are certain to discover secret treasures.
