Mobile-on-a-chip development company ARM reported that from now on will distribute drivers for mobile graphics Mali through the app store Google play. Previously did the same Qualcomm for branded graphics accelerators Adreno on models Snapdragon 865 and 765.
The company said they would update drivers for mobile graphics with small patches, which would allow them not to wait for the new firmware version for the smartphone. That is, a principle similar to PC will be used.
Among the supported platforms are declaredMediaTek Helio and Dimensions, and Samsung Exynos, although there is no list of specific models yet. Most likely, the first chipsets with support for this feature will be solutions for gaming smartphones of the middle and higher levels.
All this should improve the gaming capabilities of mobile systems to enable them to cope with more “heavy” game graphics. Although it’s hard to say how much software optimizations will improve graphics performance.
