AMD Reveals PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Total Sales

Chip maker AMD held an event Financial Analyst Day 2023in which the CEO of the company Lisa Su provided interesting information on the number of consoles sold Ps4 and Xbox one.

According to the presentation, the combined shipments of the PS4 and Xbox One totaled more than 150 million units. This number covers the period from 2013 (launch of consoles) to 2023, that is, the figure is as close as possible to the current values.

AMD is the supplier of APUs for the current generation of consoles from Microsoft (Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox One S) and Sony (PS4, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro), so it has a clear idea of the supply volumes of consoles to the market.

While Microsoft has not provided updated information on the number of shipped Xbox consoles for a long time, Sony regularly publishes such statistics. According to the latest data, as of December 31, 2019, the Japanese company had put on the market about 108.9 million consoles of the PlayStation 4 family. The exact performance of the Xbox One is difficult to calculate, since AMD used the phrase “150+ million”, speaking about the platforms of the two manufacturers.

However, well-known analyst and insider and analyst Daniel Ahmad approvesXbox One shipments have already exceeded 50 million, that is, the total number of Sony and Microsoft systems of the current generation sold is close to 160 million, but AMD mentions 150+ million, since the figures have not reached a new major milestone.

It should be noted that AMD, as in the case of the current generation, will also be a supplier “gland” for future consoles from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft – PS5 and Xbox Series X.
