Amazon Games softened a number of principles that required developers to use exclusively the company’s tools and services to create not only studio projects, but also personal projects.
Amazon Games VP Mike Frazzini noted that these principles originally emerged more than a decade ago, when the company had far less information and experience than it does today.
Previously, Amazon Games required employees to develop and distribute games only using company-owned tools and distribute them in its store.
In addition, Amazon Games received intellectual property rights even if projects were created by employees outside of business hours. Finally, to work on personal projects, developers could only collaborate with their Amazon colleagues.
