According to the preliminary plan, the transition period will end in September 2023. Bezos will be succeeded by current leader Amazon Web Services Andy Yassi, and the billionaire himself plans to take the post of executive chairman of the company’s board of directors.
Jeff Bezos has led Amazon for over 25 years. During this time, the company has become one of the largest in the world (capitalization exceeds 1.7 trillion US dollars), becoming the personification of Big Tech not only positively, but also negatively.
According to the businessman, in his new post he intends to focus on the development of new products and promising initiatives.
“I hope you are as proud of our ingenuity as I am,” added Bezos.
The need to transform at Amazon is long overdue. In particular, the company is experiencing serious problems in the video game market.
On the one hand, Amazon serves 90% of the industry with online services, dedicated servers, and multiplayer gaming solutions. However, the company did not manage to release its own projects, although it burns $ 500 million for development annually (according to Bloomberg).
