Alyx helped teach lessons during the coronavirus pandemic – Igromania

Half-Life: Alyx turned out to be an unexpectedly useful tool for teachers of one of the high schools in Poland who decided to use the game Valve for your lessons.

Five days after Poland replaced regular classrooms with virtual ones due to the coronavirus pandemic, teachers began experimenting with the new format, trying different teaching methods.

With the help of a local firm OFFshot they did six VR sessions on different subjects inside Half-Life: Alyx.

In the game, they actively used pens and boards, on which they drew diagrams and wrote various rules. Among the subjects were mathematics and various languages. In reality, of course, the teachers were inside the empty classroom, along with the VR headset and other accessories.

According to teachers, this type of class has become very popular with children who closely followed what was happening with the help of Facebook. The organizers hope that in the future it will be possible to turn this experience from a “feature” into a permanent practice – after all, technology allows you to open access to great opportunities.
