Money for this event began to be raised in January using the GoFundMe platform – the necessary funds of $ 1810 were received by the end of that month. The banner consisted of two hashtags: “Alita’s sequel” (#AlitaSequel) and “Alita’s army” (#AlitaArmy).
At the moment, the amount of fees has already reached more than 9 thousand dollars, and the collection campaign itself will be active until February 19.
The idea of the authors was successful, but only partially. The plane with the banner really flew over the passing ceremony – but the carpet with the stars was covered with a canopy from the rain. Because of this, the action did not attract as much attention as it could.

The original picture was released in February 2019, collecting around the world a little more than $ 400 million with a budget of $ 170 million. These indicators did not provide the film with the immediate creation of a sequel, but did not close the door for such an opportunity.
In the end, the producer of the film, James Cameron, did not hide from the very beginning that Alita could be the beginning of a big franchise. Perhaps, taking into account the support of the fans, the sequel will really be able to see the light.
