Activision “forgot” about itself in the trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard amid harassment scandal in the company

Debut Trailer Call of Duty: Vanguard was deprived of all mention Activision against the backdrop of ongoing accusations by company management of spreading a culture that leads to sexual harassment and discrimination against women in the workplace.

The presentation of the new shooter took place on Thursday with the help of a three-minute trailer. Curiously, the video opens with “Call of Duty presents” instead of “Activision presents” followed by “Sledgehammer Games Production”… Even more revealing is the final slide of the trailer, where the logos of the leading development studio were placed Sledgehammer Gamesas well as support studios Treyarch and Beenoxbut not their parent company.

There are no Activision logos in the trailer at all, unlike last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Wa announcementr. The only mention of Activision in the Vanguard video is the fine print, which is required by copyright law.

Last month, the California Department of Labor and Housing Rights (DFEH) sued Activision Blizzard, accusing him of ignoring complaints of sexual harassment and discrimination in the company. The lawsuit and subsequent reaction from Activision Blizzard led to an employee strike, accompanied by an open letter signed by thousands of current and former employees.

At the post-investor meeting on quarterly results, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby the Cat said the company would “set an example” on how to deal with sexual harassment and discrimination in the gaming industry, but its own shareholders called this response “unsatisfactory.”

In particular, the SOC Investment Group, which owns shares in Activision Blizzard, sent a letter to the company’s chief independent board member saying that CEO Bobby Kotik’s statement to the lawsuit and the subsequent employee response was not specific enough to address the related concerns.

Sledgehammer Games responded by stating that it tries to listen to its team and is doing everything it can to improve the studio’s culture.
