A Naive But Creative Fairy Tale: Miitopia Review For Nintendo Switch

… Swinging a magic wand with the mine of a stern turkey, Cloud intensifies the fireball, thanks to the pride received from the praise of Valuigi, who is trying once again to cure the negligent Master Chief, who is getting rid of the revived painting of Mona Lisa. All this is a typical situation in Miitopia, a social turn-based JRPG released a few years ago on Nintendo 3DS and suddenly received a remaster on Nintendo Switch

Oddly enough, the game meets not with a string of cutscenes, but with a proposal to create its own version of the protagonist and the rest of the party members. When you meet each important character, you are taken to the Mii editor, thus personalizing the plot. If you want simple analogies, then this is a whimsical mix. Tomodachi life and Fantasy lifeexcept for crafting from the latter.

The story itself does not indulge in delights and tells about the Dark Lord, who takes the faces of the inhabitants of Myitopia to create an army of monsters with the features of their appearance. The further you go, the more insidious plans and powerful monsters appear on the scene, including dozens of different bosses. Locations also delight the eye with a constant change of scenery – from a cozy kingdom and dungeons to deserts, high towers, islands and a dark kingdom. Yes, the climax of the adventure will be the confrontation with the antagonist, but it’s too early to put an end to it. After the final of the central conflict, you will be able to further explore the corners of the universe, complete quests, defeat new bosses and enjoy each event with your team Mia.

Of course, virtual alter egos with big funny faces are a fundamental element of Miitopia. The editor in the new version for Switch has been thoroughly upgraded, not only has the luggage of options for each of the options presented, be it lenses or freckles expanded, but completely new options have also appeared. Namely – makeup and wigs with a huge number of settings, where there are all color variations and a choice of their positions on the head, as well as the ability to mix and match options in the proportions you want. The developers actually offered the audience a portable fitting room, available at any time, where the ward’s head acts as a canvas that can be painted and completely changed. Limitations, of course, are present, since in fact you are making a purely humanoid creature with all that it implies. However, this does not stop fans from creating characters in Miitopia that are strikingly similar to the characters of famous media franchises of motley appearance and real personalities. And if you have a collection of amiibo, then it’s time to use them – some will unlock a set of stylized armor in Miitopia, such as Figures of Link, Mario, Bowser and Samus.

In each of the six chapters of Miitopia, the situation changes and the rotation of heroes and classes takes place, which is designed to refresh the gameplay and not let you get too bored between the places of the drawn-out series of fights and the narrative proceeding according to the knurled pattern.

The enemies do not give any significant rebuff throughout almost the entire game. You will not receive noticeable penalties even if someone dies or gets negative status. Moreover, if you hurry up with an upgrade of equipment and the choice of different classes to compensate for each other’s weaknesses, then you will never know troubles at all.
