Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 finally arrives on the digital shelves of PC and Xbox One. This is probably the last opportunity for the Japanese software house to exploit the proverbial golden hen that, despite the years since its launch in 2011, continues to be very popular in brawls tournaments around the world. Unbalanced and excessive, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is still an exciting title able to kidnap players and spectators thanks to the intellectual properties involved in a great clash between parallel universes. We have tested the PC version: will you have behaved well?

NEW RESOLUTIONS, OLD PROBLEMS
In the event that some telepaths have induced temporary amnesia – a fairly common scenario in Marvel comics, just to stay on the subject – it is worth spending two lines on the gameplay: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 contrasts the two universes in a roster composed of more than fifty characters.
There is no real plot to justify this monumental clash, but an exaggerated dose of fanservice for all those who have always wondered who would win in a duel to the death of Dante of Devil May Cry and the X- Man Wolverine : Capcom’s fighting game tries to answer, but in reality the players decide the outcome, often within a few seconds.
Defined “easy to learn, hard to master” (ie easy to learn, but difficult to master) Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 has the defect of relying too much on very long as implacable sequences of shots that on one side are absolutely spectacular, on the other excessively frustrating, especially if we are to suffer them without being able to free ourselves before the opponent has exhausted the energy of our wrestler.
Despite this, it is a title thought also and especially for newbies thanks to movements of easy memorization that translate into actions to the fulmicotone able to give a lot of satisfactions.
Too bad the PC conversion of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 does not add anything in terms of single player to what is already offered on the old-gen console and then PlayStation 4: apart from a simple Arcade mode, the usual Training and a series of challenges that teach some combo, the maximum the solitaires can aspire even on PC is the Heroes and Araldi mode that still adds very little to the offer.
On the multiplayer side, on the other hand, you can obviously compete online with other opponents … if you find them: maybe because it’s starting to go out of fashion or maybe because it’s been out of too little time, we struggled to find players to fight online .
When we succeeded, we found a fairly stable netcode but some minor problems such as the apparent impossibility of changing the microphone. In this sense, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 has shown us a more than discrete conversion that also allows a certain level of personalization on a graphic level.
The new screen dedicated to PC settings allows, among other things, to configure the resolution even at 4k, the anti-aliasing level and the quality of the textures. For obvious reasons, the frame rate is blocked at 60 frames per second; the game has turned on our test configuration smoothly and without uncertainties, guaranteeing an optimal experience even at the maximum graphic detail. If visual optimization exceeds the test, the same can not be said for the rest.
We have encountered some problems with the configuration of the controllers: we did not even take the default control system via keyboard for a second, but we had to tinker a bit before we could play with a very common joypad. It seems that this is a problem shared by many users, even if rather random, and this should push Capcom to publish a corrective update as soon as possible.
Once resolved, however, everything runs smoothly, and hands, claws and tentacles are brought to bear on as long as possible until boredom takes over.
