Where to find and how to install mods for the popular sandbox.
As with any game with a dedicated community, many custom modifications have been created for Minecraft throughout its history.
Mods will make the game more beautiful and convenient, and the gameplay will be more varied. Fortunately for Minecraft, there are really a lot of them. From banal texture packs that change the look of blocks and add a special atmosphere, to improvements to gameplay mechanics like a mini-map.
Where to download mods?
So where do you get all this stuff? There is no official site for modifications, so any one you like will do.
A good English-language resource is minecraftmods.com, and one of the most popular Russian-speaking resources is ru-minecraft.ru. Let’s take it as an example.
How to download mods?
We go to the site, on the right we click on the tab with modifications or texture packs.
Next, select your version of Minecraft. You can find out which one you are playing by looking at the lower left corner in the game menu.
If you are looking for mods on a specific topic, choose that one too – the site has corresponding sections. The same is true if you download textures.
Find any mod that interests us, click on it. The post will contain a detailed description, screenshots and a short installation guide. Scroll down a little further and see a list of mod files for different versions of the game. Find the right one and download it.
Select the file with the Forge postscript below. There will also be links to additional mods that are needed for the main modification to work.
How do I install mods?
First, download and install Java from the official site java.com. There is nothing complicated here, just follow the instructions.
Next we need a Forge mod loader. It is thanks to him that the modifications will work in the game. We go to the official website files.minecraftforge.net, in the menu on the left, select the desired version of Minecraft. Click on the “Installer” button, download and run the installer file. Click on “Install Client” and click “OK”.
The preparations are over, now we will install the mod itself. To do this, go to the game folder. The path to it: C: Users Your_User AppData Roaming .minecraft. The AppData folder is hidden. To display it, go to the “Explorer”, from the top click “View”, then “Show or hide” and check the box “Hidden items”. Done! Now hidden folders and files will be visible.
In the folder “.minecraft” find or create a folder “mods”. We transfer the files of the downloaded modifications to it. Now open the launcher, select the version with the postscript “Forge” in the list and press play.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed the mod on Minecraft.
