In a new interview, the head of the MCU Kevin Feige noted that the role Ancient in Doctor Strange it was worth taking an actor of Asian appearance.
The party of the protagonist’s mentor went to Tilda Swinton – thus, according to Feige, the studio tried to avoid stereotypes associated with the image of the “wise old man-Asian.” However, the producer now regrets this decision.
Feige believes that Marvel should have found a way in which they would have avoided that very cliché, but still got the role with an Asian appearance. Apparently, Feige has no problems with the acting work of the actress herself, and we are talking exclusively about the character.
By the way, the sequel “Doctor Strange”who is busy Sam Raimi, will be released in Russia on March 24, 2023.
